At Home Room of the Week 7.6.10

A Patriotic Family’s Colorful Kitchen and Den:

This Independence Day, I kept thinking about one of the families I met when working on our Arkansas’ Best contest.  The Coheas of Greenwood had much to celebrate this holiday, as two of their sons recently returned home from duties in Afghanistan.  Mike and Robin Cohea designed their new home as a place where their family could reunite and always share meals and conversations together, and I bet this open family room and kitchen (just steps away from the backyard pool) was a popular place this last weekend.

While I don’t think a patriotic scheme was part of Robin’s overall design plan, the brick walls in the kitchen mixed with the red and white walls give the room lots of spirit. Throw in some red, white and blue pillows and it’s ready for a summer party. (photos by Rett Peek)

You can see more of the Cohea’s house in our Arkansas’ Best contest winners issue this July.
