Last night, the At Home team split up and headed to two grand openings. At Wilkerson Jewelers’ remodeled location in Stuttgart, we got the grand tour and enjoyed fabulous hors d’oeuvres (more on that later!), and at I.O. Metro we were greeted by an enthusiastic staff eager to show off their impressive updated space in a festive and friendly atmosphere. The square footage increased by 2,000 square feet, and there’s a room entirely dedicated to wall art. We also loved the rustic new line of furnishings and accessories, called 1492 and hand-selected in far-away places like India and China. I.O. Metro’s CEO, the young and innovative Jay Howard, was there to greet us as well. It was quite an event.

We launched our Media Week on Monday, and that evening enjoyed dinner with Tobi Fairley at Copper Grill in Little Rock. We were joined by the president of our parent company’s home design division, Adam (a renowned wine blogger/aficionado to boot!), and also our internet specialist, Mitch (at right). It was a great week of learning about online opportunities available to local businesses, particularly through social media. For more information, visit http://design-sherpa.com/.

A busy couple of weeks for the At Home in Arkansas team! Last week, we participated in the annual Holiday House at the Convention Center in Little Rock, sponsored by the Junior League of Little Rock. That’s Katie manning our booth and offering subscriptions; everybody loved our tree!
(P.S.- Stay tuned for snippets on what we’ve been up to this week, including our trip to the grand opening of Wilkerson Jewelers’ newly remodeled space in Stuttgart AND our trip to the VIP party celebrating I.O. Metro’s newly remodeled space in Little Rock!)

As you can imagine, I’m a huge fan of home tours. Here’s one with an environmentally-friendly twist, happening in Northwest Arkansas tomorrow.

Rogers-based Stitt Energy Systems and the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) are bringing together more than 5,000 homes, schools and businesses across the U.S. to participate in the 14th Annual ASES National Solar Tour to help residents combat rising energy prices and improve property values.
On September 26, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., two solar tour locations will be open in Northwest Arkansas. The public can receive a VIP Pass by calling Stitt Energy Systems at 479-636-8745 or 800-367-7374 before September 26th. These tours are free and open to the public.
The first tour location is the newly renovated and expanded Stitt Energy Systems office, located at 1301 South 8th Street in Rogers, Arkansas, which recently won the Greenest Office in Northwest Arkansas Award from Northwest Arkansas Business Journal and the City of Rogers 2009 Commercial Development of the Year Award.
The second tour location is a residence located at 10068 Sun Ridge Circle, in the energy-planned community of South Sun Estates on the Lake, near Rogers. This beautiful home demonstrates passive solar orientation and features a Photovoltaic System that generates electricity and a solar water heating system. It has a near $0 utility bill and is a past EnergyValue Housing Award winner.
A listing of other tour dates, additional information and locations is available at www.NationalSolarTour.org <http://www.nationalsolartour.org/> .
