2009 Harvest Fest in Hillcrest

At Home headed to Hillcrest for the Second Harvest Fest on Saturday, and we were delighted with the beautiful weather and community support of the event! Booths lined the streets with vendors selling all kinds of hand-crafted gifts, and with teams anxious to show off their chili-cooking skills. Just in case you couldn’t make it, we captured some photos and decided to post a few of our favorites. For more information, visit www.hillcrestharvestfest.com. Hope to see you next year!

Fun at Ferneau

Picture 3

The hard-working At Home in Arkansas team gathered for wonderful food and even better conversation at Ferneau Restaurant in Little Rock’s Hillcrest neighborhood last night, thanks to our company NCI’s CEO Dan McCarthy (at right) and home design division president Adam Japko (at left).

Saturday Morning at the Farmers Market

IMG_5234

We had a hankering for fresh Arkansas produce, so we made our way to the Argenta Certified Farmers Market (CAFM) (Tuesdays and Saturdays, 7 a.m. to noon) located at 6th and Main Streets in downtown North Little Rock. We found fresh flowers and beautiful fruits and vegetables just waiting to be enjoyed, plus we loved seeing so many locals (and in most cases, their dogs) out together on a Saturday morning. Snatched up some sunflowers and juicy peaches too…what a way to start the weekend!

For more info about the CAFM program’s Farm to Chef Network, which pairs a chef or restaurant with a local farmer with the goal of matching what the farm produces with a part of the chef’s menu, check out our September issue! We talk with some of the participating chefs, and they share a few fall recipes made from farmers market ingredients. Butternut squash pancakes, anyone?

Argenta on Saturday mornings is also the site of an art and craft market, where Bella Vita Jewelry sets up her glorious shop. Girls, it’s near impossible to pass jewelry designer Brandy Thomason’s booth without stopping to try on a pair of dangly earrings or a statement-making ring. Try it and see for yourself!
