Chez Weenie!

For our November issue, our editor Laura Allen and I visited a number of places in Helena and Forrest City for our "On The Road" section. One in particular was Chez Weenie in Forrest City. It’s just the cutest store with lots to offer. We had so much fun there with owner Weston Lewey. A few blocks off of Washington St., the store is located in a 100-year-old white house. Each room is filled with fabulous home decor and accessories. I just went crazy over the chair canvas prints and called it an "early Christmas present". We had Christmas shopping on our minds that day! They have a new home now, over the mantel in my living room!  Some of the lines Chez Weenie carries are Vietri, Vera Bradley, The Thymes, Riedel and Votivo, just to name a few. They are always getting in new and exciting things. When we were there, they had an entire table of James Hayes glass pieces set up. It was beautiful. So, if you are ever in Forrest City, please stop by Chez Weenie!  You’ll be glad you did and might even end up with several Christmas presents for yourself and others.

Chez Weenie is open Monday – Saturaday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call for any other information, 870-633-8100.

Also, you can find out about more fabulous places we visited in this area of the state in our November issue. On news stands soon!

A Cut Above

I recently had a little road trip down Highway 65 South and stopped by Paul Michael Company in Lake Village. They have a huge showroom filled with all kinds of furniture, decorative accessories, canvas artwork, rugs and much more. I was just amazed at their selection and prices. They have something for every home. One thing that really caught my eye were these great cutting boards. They are so unique and are made in all sizes. The prices are great too! Some are made with stripes and others with great iron handles. I love to cook, so I always have a cutting board out on the kitchen counter. What kitchen wouldn’t look great with one of these sitting out?! I’ve got to schedule another trip soon!  Paul Michael Company has three locations in the south. Their Arkansas store is located on Highway 65 South in Lake Village, 800-732-3722.

The Perfect Painter’s Tape

I consider the removal of the painter’s tape the most rewarding part of painting a room. But it’s not so wonderful when you see that your paint has bled through the tape and your edges aren’t as clean as you imagined. If you are as picky as me, it’s time to throw away the oh-so famous "blue painter’s tape" and get some Frog Tape. Yep, Frog Tape. Frog Tape is a pro painter’s grade masking tape that has a special chemical on it called Paintblock that helps prevent the annoying paint bleed that happens with other masking tapes. Not only does it resist bleeding, it also keeps from tearing and gives you the crisp clean edges you deserve after all that hard work. Visit www.frogtape.com to place your order.
