Behind the Scenes with Estee Lauder

Browsing the makeup section at Dillard’s, you’ll find ads over every counter. But have you ever wondered what goes into the making of those ads? The makeup artists? The clothes? The model? We here at At Home in Arkansas are pretty lucky to receive press releases and images on a regular basis…and we thought Estee Lauder’s Holiday 2009 campaign was worth sharing with everyone! Can you say glamorous? Now we’re really looking forward to compiling our fall beauty preview for the October issue… (Hint, hint: Red lips are back!)

Chez Weenie!

For our November issue, our editor Laura Allen and I visited a number of places in Helena and Forrest City for our "On The Road" section. One in particular was Chez Weenie in Forrest City. It’s just the cutest store with lots to offer. We had so much fun there with owner Weston Lewey. A few blocks off of Washington St., the store is located in a 100-year-old white house. Each room is filled with fabulous home decor and accessories. I just went crazy over the chair canvas prints and called it an "early Christmas present". We had Christmas shopping on our minds that day! They have a new home now, over the mantel in my living room!  Some of the lines Chez Weenie carries are Vietri, Vera Bradley, The Thymes, Riedel and Votivo, just to name a few. They are always getting in new and exciting things. When we were there, they had an entire table of James Hayes glass pieces set up. It was beautiful. So, if you are ever in Forrest City, please stop by Chez Weenie!  You’ll be glad you did and might even end up with several Christmas presents for yourself and others.

Behind the Scenes with At Home!

Today I got a behind the scenes look at our “Style,” “Beauty” and “What’s In Store” photo shoots for our upcoming January issue! Since these departments are in every issue, we are always trying to show the latest trends and styles each month. It was so much fun to watch Kendy Schimmel of Kendy Schimmel Photography work behind the camera at Nancy Nolan’s studio, and get a sneak peak at all the great products we are featuring in our new January Design issue. From warm coats to cashmere sweaters, I certainly found a few things I would like for Christmas this year! This is going to be a great issue, so enjoy the holidays and watch for the January issue!
