“Absolutely love this beautiful showhouse!” says editor Diane Carroll. “While there was room for personal style, there’s still a cohesive look. Makes the entire house flow, which can be hard to do in a showhouse. And I especially love that shower with the two styles of tile–clever idea.” (“25 Interior Designers Show Their Style” from Bear Hill Interiors)

“It’s like living in their music,” says art director Mandy Keener, of this home owned by Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips. “I can see Wayne in his big bubble just hanging out at home!” (“Whoranges Monthly Pad: The Flaming Lips House” from Whorange)

Ad coordinator Laura LaRue frequents many weddings. “Love this!’ she says. “All I need is that fabulous pair of earrings to stand out in the crowd during wedding season.” (“Proper Wedding Attire for Guests” from Romance Diamond)

“The Cherry Blossom Girl is famous around the world for her images and styling,” says associate editor Paulette Pearson. “This photo really struck me–the simplicity and contrast of those deep purple florals mixed with the white background.” (“MLH” from The Cherry Blossom Girl)

From editor Diane Carroll: “Ten great ideas, with lots of instructions and templates (easy and quick is my favorite kind of project). That #5 is catching my eye for this holiday.” (“Let’s be creative for the 4th” from Signed Sealed Delivered)

“Precious baby shoes!” says account executive Katie Rawlings. “The red booties would complete a 4th of July outfit! Too sweet. Do they came in adult sizes?” (“If we were having a girl…” from Ruby Press)

When we featured her blog, My Sweet Savannah, in our April Cottage issue, Melaine Thompson was as thrilled as can be. And as we’ve gotten to know her a little bit more, we’ve decided that she might be one of the sweetest and most enthusiastic bloggers out there! As a wife and mom, Melaine also manages to maintain a thriving blog that’s as lighthearted as she is. Hop on over to My Sweet Savannah and you’ll see right away why Miss Melaine has thousands of online followers.

I love to mix vintage and new in my home, which you can see in just about every room! Here are some of my favorites, along with images and tips to help At Home’s readers freshen up your homes this spring.

In my kitchen I used old wood numbers I found at a flea market to add a little whimsy above my kitchen window. These numbers are our address, but you could do a anniversary date, birth date, or any other memorable date for you!

In the guest bath I have hung fluffy white towels from a piece of vintage molding and wood turned into a coat rack.

Garage sale chairs get a coat of clean white paint. I made a simple slip for the seats out of old cotton feed and grain sacks acquired over time at garage sales, flea markets, and thrift stores.

Again, repurposing feed sacks into pillows.

I made these chunky wood frames out of vintage wood. The bottom 2 frames here I made out of new wood, painted and distressed to look old.

I love to decorate shelves with old books. Look for interesting colors with a great patina in a color that will go with the scheme in your home.

Craigslist is a great place to find vintage items for not much money. I picked up this hutch recently and it has the most perfectly imperfect chippy paint. I used old glass bottles to hold blooms out of our garden, and topped it off with another frame made out of vintage wood. Mix old and new dishes for an eclectic farmhouse look!

(All the photos were taken by me with the exception of the first 2. Those are by Kimberly Taylor of Mimi Charmante.)

Remember when we asked you to send photos of a boring bathroom to us, something we could make-over with color?

Here it is, reader and Facebook fan Betsy Orr’s bland bathroom in Rogers, and now you can see the bath makeover online as well.

El Dorado-based interior designer Andrea Brooks (another Facebook fan!) stepped up to the color challenge. Her colorful suggestions:

1. Paint the walls Sherwin Williams Open Air, a tranquil light blue that would give the room a feeling similar to this:

2. Paint the cabinet a deep blue/green, an affordable way to update a basic vanity. Here’s the paint and an idea of the end result:

3.  Andrea suggests adding roman shades in a striped fabric that pulls the blue and green together.

Which would look similar to this on the window above the bathtub:

4. Then she suggests adding a range of accessories that would tie together the colors: a fabric for the vanity seat, art for the wall next to the tub, trays and bowls for the counter area, and new knobs/pulls for the vanity. (Art by Beverly McLarty, Backwoods Art & Frame Gallery; Accessories from Murphy Long Design, both in El Dorado).
